When I judge an art show I like to see works that attempt to push boundaries. Even if the attempt is clumsy I admire the courage it takes to try.

1st Place
Marilyn Le May Patterson
“Night Fall”
This painting has a wonderful abstract composition and subtlety interrelated color harmonies. There is a masterful “liquid” feel, while balanced with magnificent intentional passages.

2nd Place
Luis F. Perez
“Privileged Food 4- Fresh Grapes”
A richly colorful rendering of grapes in which you can almost feel their crisp texture. The cropped composition and beautifully painted metallic background give this piece a very contemporary look.

“The Giving Garden”
A beautiful joyous painting which combines a whimsical, light expression and a perfectly structured abstraction.

This painting has a richly rendered sense of clear stark light and is visually dynamic because of the dramatic composition.

A small gem of a painting. The interesting use of collage gives this piece a unique sense of depth and an intriguing usual vibration.

“The Cathedral of St. John the Divine Envisioned as Complete”
A meticulously rendered painting that contrasts an intricately drawn cathedral that has a subtly flat spacial relationship with an interesting use of very sculptural orbs in a magnificent night sky.
