If you teach, describe class
Half art history and half community share/art critique, this Zoom class is ideal for experienced art students, professional artists and art teachers. Painters working in any style and in any 2-D medium are welcome. Participants deepen their repertoire of creative strategies through close looking at art historical precedents. Well-known artists’ approaches to color, composition, scale, rhythm, and process offer inspirations for our own creative endeavors. I offer one class Tuesday mornings from 10 a.m-12p.m. and one class Tuesday afternoons from 1:30-3:30 p.m.; but I am happy to offer other classtimes to groups of 20 or more. The classes run in 5-week sessions.
The first hour of each class is devoted to an art history PowerPoint presentation, from which I offer an art challenge for the week. Both abstract and representational work welcomed. During that week, I schedule optional one-on-one zoom check-ins to discuss your work in progress. The second hour of class is devoted to a community share of class work (via a PowerPoint of photos of student’s ongoing work) for encouragement, critique, and support.
