"The Value of Three"

Paintings can use the number three in many ways. They can have a foreground, middle ground and background, or three trees, three hills, three buildings or three motifs. Three carries with it the possibility of psychological rightness. Pythagoras thought three was the perfect number, expressive of beginning, middle and end. So we ask the artists to incorporate 'three' in some way in the paintings for the show.
