If any event day is canceled due to weather, it will be rescheduled using the rain dates in order:
If one day is canceled, that location moves to → April 23
If two days are canceled, those location moves to → April 23 and April 24
If all three days are canceled, all locations move to → April 23, April 24, and April 27

We are pleased to have artist Barb Kiwak conduct this watercolor Plein air workshop.
Her instruction method is hands on. She will give composition advice, color advice and demo at each of the sites.
She will encourage thumbnail sketches before beginning the finished painting. She would like to encourage group critique's near the end of each day.
All student level are welcome, from beginning to advanced.

On April 20, Barb will conduct a workshop focusing on plein air painting in watercolor at the Brighton Dam Azalea Garden, located at 2 Brighton Dam Rd, Brookeville, MD 20833. Brighton Dam Azalea Garden is a premier spring destination featuring over 22,000 brilliant azalea bushes across 5 acres. Known for its vibrant, color-blocked, and mature, tree-sized blooms, this free, non-commercialized spot offers scenic views of the Triadelphia Reservoir, a, charming gazebo, and peaceful walking trails.


On April 21, we will visit Jerusalem Mills at 2813 Jerusalem Road, Kingsville, MD 21087. Jerusalem Mills is full of History and architecture. It is special as one of Maryland's oldest and most intact 18th-century, industrial mill villages. Located in Gunpowder Falls State Park, this National Register site features restored historic buildings, the Jericho Covered Bridge, and immersive living history, including Revolutionary War-era gunstock production.

On April 22, we will visit Downtown Ellicott City. Exact location to start our session to be decided in few days. Ellicott city is again a historic charm in Howard county with a vibrant, main street packed with unique boutiques, antique shops, art galleries, and diverse dining options.

Barb Kiwak
Biography:
After graduating from MICA in the late eighties with a BFA in Visual Communications, Barb began her career in illustration. She worked for many publications including, Good Housekeeping, Reader's Digest, Highlights for Children and many more. In the late nineties, She decided to branch out into fine art. She was featured in many shows across the United States with her oil paintings and sculpture. She is represented by the Berkely Gallery in Virgina and currently teach at the Zoll Studio of Fine Art. Recommended Materials:
A pencil, eraser, a full palette of colors, an assortment of brushes, water for paint and watercolor paper. A board/easel, a chair, paper towels and a bag to put trash in.
In addition, bring plenty of water to drink and a packed lunch/snacks.
A plein air umbrella is optional.
- The price for the workshop is $120 for BWS members (Signature Artists and Associates) and $150 for non-BWS members.
- The class size is limited to 22 people, and the workshop cannot be split with another person.
PAYMENTS:
Please pay online if possible. The payment system allows the use of Credit Cards. Otherwise, checks should be made out to Baltimore Watercolor Society. Please enter the name of the workshop on your check. You will receive another email with the instructions for the check payment, if online payment is not opted during checkout process. Questions can be addressed by replying to this email.
Confirmation of your registration will be sent upon receipt of your check or online payment. Checks must be received within 5 days of registration to be considered as registered.

Remember that these workshops fill up very quickly. When filled, you can join the waiting list.
WAITING LIST:
BWS maintains a workshop waiting list. When openings occur, BWS fills the openings from the waiting list on a first-come, first-served basis.
BWS adds names to the waiting list according to the date and time.
You can join the waiting list if a workshop is filled. There are often openings so it is worth doing if you are interested in the class.
You can't join a waiting list before registration opens.
Waiting List registrants - Do not send payment until you are informed of an opening and have been sent an invoice. Any check sent before you have been informed you have a spot will be destroyed.

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS:
BWS makes decisions and incurs fixed costs based on the number of initial registrants. Cancellations can affect these costs even if there is a waiting list. In addition, cancellations incur processing fees and other costs paid by BWS as well as requiring extra time and organizational effort. Refunds for extenuating circumstances are at the discretion of the event coordinator.
From registration date to 60 days prior to the event = 90% refund
59 days to 21days prior = 75% refund
20 days to 8 days prior = 50% refund
7 days or fewer = no refund
In the event of inclement weather, participants will be notified by email of any changes. If BWS cancels the workshop, then all paid registrants will receive a full pro-rata refund for those days that were cancelled.
