Linda Baker Workshop - Week #1

The Baltimore Watercolor Society is pleased and excited to host Linda Baker in a four-day workshop from Tuesday, June 10, 2014 through Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Hawthorn Center in Columbia, MD.  

Linda is an internationally-known, award-winning signature member of AWS, NWS, TWS (as well as several other watercolor societies) and her workshops are always in high demand.  As a professional watercolor artist, Linda is intrigued by the gentle translucence of nature.  She considers her work to be a contemporary approach to traditional subject matter.  Striving to simplify the complicated while seeing the unique in the ordinary, she captures the essence  of gentle scenes with harmonious strokes. Visit Linda's website to read more about her and view her recent paintings.

The price for the workshop is $300 for BWS members and associates and $325 for non-BWS members.  Participants will be limited to 25 people and the workshop cannot be split with another person. 

The event is 80% refundable until April 15, 2014, but no refunds will be given after that date unless the spot is filled from the waiting list.

Linda's Recommended Material List

Imagination – Sense of Adventure. 

Bring whatever supplies you have or normally use. I don’t want you to spend a lot of money for something you may not love.

• Paper – Kilamajaro paper from Cheap Joes or Arches 140# or 300# ColdPress -either will work.
• Boards – Gatorboard or some other paint board to work on.
• Paints – I will be using M. Graham & American Journey. Please bringwhatever you use and do not purchase especially for this workshop. Make sure you have a red, blue, and yellow.
• Brushes – 3” flat, selection of rounds (30, 12, 8, 6, 4) and flats (1”, ½”,¼”), scrubber, rigger, palette knife, pen knife or table knife. 
•  A pipette if you have one. A sponge.
• Masking – Pebeo drawing gum is my favorite. Old brush or Ugly brush to apply & rubber cement remover. If you do not have or use masking, I will have small kits available at the workshop for $20.00 that includes a small bottle of masking, a couple brushes, a remover, and a pipette.
• Palette – white tray or palette.
• Water container, paper towels & tissues, saran wrap, masking tape,sponges, eraser, spray bottle (this is important: that it have a significant spray down to a mist. I recommend Cheap Joe’s.)
• Graphite transfer paper,small lidded plastic containers to mix paint, magazine, scissors, and glue stick or medium.
• Old bath towel if possible.
