We are pleased and privileged to have nationally-acclaimed Philadelphia artist, Nancy Barch, as our major workshop instructor this fall. Nancy’s work has been exhibited multiple times in both American Watercolor Society and National Watercolor Society shows, and she is a signature member of both. You can learn more about Nancy Barch and her artwork through her website at: www.nancybarch.com and watch a video interview at: Nancy Barch Interview
For the BWS this coming October 14-17, she will conduct a four-day workshop entitled, “Expressive Techniques in Mixed Watermedia”. We will also be utilizing collage and will explore the use of watermedia techniques on traditional watercolor papers and boards and on Yupo. Students will be able to focus on the medium and surface that appeals to them most, after viewing one or more demonstrations
A supply list can be found below. You can expect to be using your transparent watercolors, as well as a few acrylic colors and pastels. We will be working on 140 or 300 lb paper or illustration board or Yupo. For adding collage elements we will use matte gel medium. You will not need to buy a lot of new materials for this experimental workshop. We will create some beautiful and original works of our own!
The workshop will take place at the Hawthorn Center, 6175 Sunny Spring, Columbia, MD. Price for the workshop is $250 for BWS members and associates, and $280 for non-members. Participants will be limited to 24 people and cannot split the workshop with another person. On the second two nights of the workshop, students will need to put their things back into their cars because the room will be used for another event.
Refund policy: 80% refundable until October 6. No refunds after that unless spot is filled from waiting list. Questions can be directed to Susan Avis Murphy
