  BWS SEMI-ANNUAL JURYING FOR SIGNATURE ARTIST STATUS REGISTRATION

  ASSOCIATE AND NON-BWS ARTISTS WELCOME.

  Registration is Open August 9 through October 11 11:59PM.

  APPLICANTS FOR SIGNATURE STATUS IN BALTIMORE WATERCOLOR SOCIETY MUST RESIDE IN THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION: DELAWARE, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, MARYLAND, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, PENNSYLVANIA, VIRGINIA, OR WEST VIRGINIA
  

  Jurying by the Board of Governors will convene on October 25, 2025 and decision letters will be mailed to artists within two weeks of this date. Only the Board participates in the jurying process.

  As part of registering to have your artwork juried, you must upload four samples of your work that meet the criteria described in the document at the link below. Read this document carefully, even if you have read it in the past, as clarification updates may have been made. Be sure each of your four paintings are no less than 10 inches on any side, and other criteria in the document are met before submitting your application.

  Once you have read criteria outlined in the application and have selected paintings to submit, you will need to upload digital images of them as part of the registration process. Your images must be jpeg or jpg format, at least 1920 pixels on the longer side. The file should be no larger than 3 MB.

  BWS 140th Birthday Celebration Luncheon

  “ Eight Baltimore Women Picked Up Their Brushes, and the Rest Is History."

  
  

  This year BWS is offering an opportunity to gather and celebrate the founding of the Baltimore Watercolor Society.  It began as the Baltimore Watercolor Club in 1885 as a small group of artists gathered to determine how to exhibit their work.  From that small group of founders, BWS is now over 700 strong in its membership.  Come celebrate the journey.

  Doors open:  12:30 pm
  

  Open to Members and the public. You may invite one guest, until we reach the maximum number of attendees.

  Cost: $25(per person) 

  Registration deadline: November 14

  Time: Doors will be open at 12:30 pm. A cash bar will be available. Buffet lunch will be served at 1:00 pm.

  Please join us and share this afternoon of delicious food, fellowship, and a fabulous program with our guest speaker.  This year, we are pleased to have Dr. Kathleen Foster, who will speak to us on American Watercolor in the Age of Homer and Sargent.  

  It was in that time period that the Baltimore Watercolor Club, that evolved into the Baltimore Watercolor Society, was formed.  Our founders were part of that movement when groups began to unite to paint together and exhibit their watercolors.  No longer was watercolor given a back seat in the American art world.

  Members are invited to PAINT THE FOUNDERS with paintings to be displayed at the luncheon.  See the following links for details.
